Week of 9/26

This week we have pictures of activities from our Seed Unit and constructive playtime including, sharing books, playing bingo, calico critters, dramatic play, indoor recess and building with Wedgits.

Gotta go!

This week we acted out one of our favorite stories, Gotta Go. It is the life cycle of a butterfly. We were inspired by the caterpillar that Niema found on a milkweed plant. We brought it into the classroom and have been watching it transform from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. In the story, "the creepy, crawly bug" knows that he has "gotta go, gotta go, gotta go to Mexico. These photos are our adaptation of the story. First we have the caterpillars, who meet ants and grasshoppers. Then we have the butterflies who meet birds. Finally, they join the other butterflies in Mexico and dance.

Week of September 4th

This week we had a great time with rock n' roll painting, drama time and collage. We had Art with B.Z. and Music with Daphne. Children enthusiastically participated in drama time. At Meeting, children began sharing identity books. We pretended to go through the life cycle of a monarch butterfly from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. We also baked muffins for Friday Feast and played outside despite the drizzly, rainy weather.
