The Stretcher Project
A few weeks ago the children had a great time playing "Rock-a-Bye-Baby". One child would lay in a blanket, the other children would swing them back and forth with my help holding one side of the blanket. I asked the children if it would be possible to do it without grown-up help. A brainstorm session was held. Children quickly came up with the idea of a swing with a ladder. The children drew pictures of their ideas. We may be able to add a swing in our classroom. I introduced the idea of a stretcher. We discussed how to do this and decided to give it a try. These are pictures of the process and the end result.
A visit from Monica to learn Indian Dance
Monica came to our classroom to teach the children Indian Dance. She introduced poses that represent animals. After the children practiced the moves, she put the animal poses in a story which they acted out. We all enjoyed the lesson and the dance. Thanks Monica!

Floor crossings and raising Grace
This week we experimented with floor crossings. Children went from one side of the room to the other, galloping, running, crawling, walking on heels, tip toes and as different animals.
After every child had a turn swinging in a blanket, held by the other children, they tried to lift Grace up on a blanket. It was a great challenge and lots of fun!

Set and Costume Design, A Walk in the Woods and a visit from Gian.
This week we were busy preparing for our play, Who's in Rabbit's House?". The children used sponge painting to make rabbit's house which is under tree roots. They used paper mache to make animal ears and then painted the ears.
We had a lovely Walk in the Woods on Monday, collecting leaves for an art project.
We had a special visit from a parent who shared a bit of Italian culture with us in honor Of Italian Heritage month. He taught us a song in Italian and read a book titled, "I Due Liocorni", The Two Unicorns. Everyone enjoyed the songs and storytelling.
