Felted wool balls, Rubber ramp and Store Design

April came and taught the children how to felt small wool balls. The colors of the yarn were beautiful. Children exercised their fine motor muscles as the pulled and folded the yarn.

We made potting soil by combining chopped up leaves, compost, sand and dirt. Children planted oat and grass seeds in individual cups. A bit of spring in the classroom.

A new edition to the classroom is the rubber floor ramp. Children can experiment with speed, velocity and distance by rearranging the white pieces.

As part of our Community Helper unit the children have decided to build a store. A few children worked on designing the store which has a restaurant attached to it. The children included a place to set samples out for tasting, shelves with produce, a chimney on each structure, carriages in the parking lot, windows and doors. After vacation, we will build the buildings out of large pieces of cardboard.
