Going on a picnic

We took advantage of this beautiful fall weather to have Friday Feast Picnic. After the picnic,  I had planned to lead a movement game related to our bug study. Before I had a chance, the children created their own game flying around like buzzing bees and fluttering butterflies. The game was extended to include crawling caterpillars, squirming worms, bees collecting pollen and then doing a "honey dance". What a glorious day!

Going on a log hunt..

This week we took a walk in the woods to look for a dead log. We had prepared for our adventure by dissecting a rotting log in the media table. The children found centipedes, spiders, slugs, ants and sow bugs. We read books to learn more about the life in a dead log.  We took a walk in the woods to look for more specimens to observe. We were fortunate to come across a large log. We used all our might to roll the log over. Two black salamanders, worms, ants and a toad were found! A successful and fun mission!

The Art Studio, The Tomato Horn Caterpillar, Friday Feast and Namaste

Every Tuesday we will be in the Art Studio with B.Z. This week children used cray pas to draw portraits of sunflowers. B.Z. introduces the project, materials to be used and technique. She emphasizes that each picture will be different.

We had a visit from the Horn Tomato Worm. What a beautiful creature!

Fun and Friday Feast.
